ABOUT

Misha is a multi-award-winning Glaswegian writer director working between the UK and US, who has helmed many complex shoots with high profile talent. Known for a distinctive creative voice that blends striking imagery, authentic performances and satirical comedy, his work often breaks new ground with genre.

He has been nominated for four BAFTA Awards, including the BAFTA Breakthrough Award for Directing.

Most recently, he was nominated in the 2026 BAFTA Television Awards for Chanel 4 series The Jury, which was also nominated for RTS Programme and Craft Awards and won the Rose d’Or. Critically lauded, The Guardian called it “gobsmacking”, The Times “Undeniably gripping” and the FT “Gripping television… visceral and delicately balanced”. Broadcast Magazine invited Misha to write about his unique process making it, which you can read here.

In drama, Misha directed David Thewlis in sci-fi thriller The Feed (Amazon Studios), was lead director on Bryan Elsley’s Kiss Me First (Netflix), directed episodes across all three seasons of Paul Abbott’s No Offence (Channel 4), lead directed Danny Brocklehurst’s Ordinary Lies (BBC One) and directed acclaimed single drama Excluded (BBC Two) starring Monica Dolan.

In comedy, Misha co-created and directed pilot Gooseberry (Lionsgate / Comedy Central) executive produced with Sacha Baron Cohen, wrote and directed the pilot for Hoff the Record (International Emmy winner) teaming with Mickey Down and Konrad Kay and created several celebrated genre blurring series with Marc Wootton, including Showtime’s cult hit La La Land.

In film, Misha directed Michael Sheen in short Barbados from a screenplay by George Kay (official selection Toronto International Film Festival), David Tennant in short Nine and a Half Minutes (produced by Ollie Madden), and completed Death in Gaza, HBO’s multi-Emmy-winning feature documentary. His recent short The Art of The Lie — a metafictional rockumentary about singer-songwriter John Grant — was nominated in the UK Music Video Awards 2025.

In commercials, Misha has directed award-winning films for brands including Google and Kit Kat, the latest KFC campaign and shot Aimee Lou Wood for Swarovski.

Misha is currently in post on seasons three and four of The Jury, teaming with writer Henry Fleet on Monsters (a new short executive produced by Abi Morgan) and developing new film and TV projects including social thriller Status Anxiety.
